If you've not seen Sean Penn in Milk, you need to do so. The movie, based on the life of Harvey Milk, assassinated San Francisco city supervisor is in theaters now. Heartbreaking, affirming, disturbing and funny, the film will make you angry, and at the same time harden your determination to eliminate prejudice in all its forms. The refreshing message of Milk's life, his mantra as he struggled for gay rights in the late seventies was this: you've got to give people hope. It's as good a message as any we've heard lately, especially after 8 years of stifling and repressive rhetoric, and blind obedience to the status quo.
And Heather? Hang in there, better days are ahead.
