A Higher Standard

www.caffection.com
My friends are my estate. Emily Dickinson
It’s our dream to one day have Caffection.com truly be YOUR website. Each day after returning home from our “paying” jobs, we blog and tweak the site a tad. At times we wonder if a website to affirm married best friends is even needed? And then; there are days we just know. JUSTKNOWIT. Thank you, M&S in Covina California, for sharing your story.
Good marriages are based on responsibility, equity, and love, without restrictions based on the biological gender, procreative potential, or sexual orientation of the partners.
Good marriages:
• are committed to the mutual care and fulfillment of both partners;
• increase the capacity of the individuals to contribute to the common good;
• assure that all children are wanted, loved, and nurtured;
• are free of threats, violence, exploitation, and intimidation.

M & S have worn other rings as a sign of their love since 1996. These rings were blessed by the late Rev. Howard B. Warren, Jr., at a spontaneous “wedding” of sorts for them, held in the lobby of the La Posada Hotel as they were waiting to eat at a Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico, during the Presbyterian Church’s General Assembly. We remember Howard and other saints who have gone before us this day as we re-bless these cherished symbols.
The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond, uniting two loyal hearts in endless love. These circles are designed without an ending, so they speak of eternity. May the wear on these rings be a reminder of the loving history of these two; and may the incorruptible substance of these rings represent a love glowing with increasing luster through the years; and may all good and holy beings upon this Earth bless these rings which you give to each other as the sign of your love, trust, faithfulness, respect and devotion.
S, please place the ring on M’s left hand and repeat after me:
With this ring, I continue my promise to you
that I will be your faithful partner in life.
M, please place the ring on S’s left hand and repeat after me:
With this ring, I continue my promise to you
that I will be your faithful partner in life.

In Closing
The faith we affirm challenges us to speak and act for justice for all who seek to express their love in the commitment of marriage. Some people of faith differ with us; others may be undecided. To each and all, we reach out and seek to promote what is best for individuals, couples, families, children, and society. Our commitment is not only for the legal rights of some, but relational justice for all.
